Intervenant ce jeudi 7 mars 2027 à la tribune des Nations Unies dans le cadre du deuxième Forum d’examen des migrations internationales, le ministre haïtien des Affaires sociales et du Travail, Marc Élie Nelson, a souligné l’importance capitale de la diaspora haïtienne dans le développement économique et social du pays.
Dans son allocution prononcée devant les représentants de plusieurs États membres et organisations internationales, le ministre a rendu un vibrant hommage aux millions d’Haïtiens vivant à l’étranger. Il a rappelé que cette communauté joue un rôle déterminant dans la stabilité économique d’Haïti, notamment à travers les transferts financiers qu’elle envoie régulièrement à leurs familles et à leurs proches restés au pays.
Selon Marc Élie Nelson, la diaspora constitue bien plus qu’un simple soutien financier. Elle représente également un réservoir considérable de compétences, de talents et d’expertises susceptibles de contribuer à la reconstruction et à la modernisation d’Haïti. « Les Haïtiens vivant à l’étranger occupent une place essentielle dans la construction du pays », a-t-il déclaré, mettant en avant leur qualification professionnelle et leur capacité à participer activement au développement national.
Le titulaire du ministère des Affaires sociales et du Travail a également insisté sur la nécessité d’adopter des politiques publiques modernes et inclusives en matière de migration. Il a indiqué que le gouvernement haïtien travaille actuellement à la mise en place de dispositions visant à promouvoir une gouvernance migratoire plus structurée, capable de répondre aux défis actuels tout en valorisant le potentiel de la diaspora.
Dans cette perspective, les autorités haïtiennes entendent favoriser une gestion humaine, responsable et inclusive des flux migratoires. Cette approche vise à garantir le respect des droits fondamentaux des migrants tout en renforçant les liens entre la diaspora et le pays d’origine.
Marc Élie Nelson a également rappelé que la migration, lorsqu’elle est bien encadrée, peut devenir un levier puissant de développement durable. Il a plaidé pour une coopération internationale renforcée afin de mieux protéger les migrants et d’assurer une migration sûre, ordonnée et régulière.
La participation d’Haïti à ce forum international témoigne de la volonté des autorités de faire entendre la voix du pays sur les grandes questions migratoires qui préoccupent aujourd’hui la communauté internationale. Elle traduit également l’engagement du gouvernement à promouvoir des politiques migratoires respectueuses de la dignité humaine et favorables au progrès social.
En mettant en avant la contribution de la diaspora haïtienne, le ministre des Affaires sociales et du Travail a rappelé que les Haïtiens de l’extérieur demeurent des partenaires incontournables dans la construction d’un avenir plus stable et prospère pour Haïti.
